Electric Vehicle-EV Charging
Whether you’ve just bought a new Electric Vehicle (EV), a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), or you’re simply weighing up the move to electric, getting your home charging sorted is the next logical step. Renowned Group are NICEIC-approved specialists who handle domestic EV charging installations without the usual faff.
We provide a straightforward, no-nonsense service to get your car powered up and ready to go.
Installation Criteria
To get a 3.7kW or 7.4kW wall-mounted unit fitted, you’ll typically need to meet the following:
▶ Home Ownership: You must own the property or have a mortgage.
▶ Off-Road Parking: You need a dedicated driveway or garage so we aren’t trailing cables across the bloody pavement.
▶ Wiring Standards: Your home must meet current IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671). If your consumer unit is a bit prehistoric, don’t panic—we can usually upgrade it for you.
▶ Vehicle Access: You must own, lease, or have primary use of an electric vehicle.
▶ Practical Location: The unit needs to be mounted in a sensible spot near your electricity meter or distribution board.
▶ Connectivity: A decent GSM (mobile signal) or Wi-Fi connection is vital so the “Smart” features of the unit actually work.
Choosing Your Charging Speed
We offer two main options for domestic setups. Don’t get bogged down in the technicalities; it mostly comes down to how fast you need to get back on the road:
-
3.7kW Unit: The standard option. It’ll typically take a modern EV about 6 hours to reach full charge. Perfect if the car is parked up overnight.
-
7.4kW Unit: If you don’t want to wait around, this is the one. It doubles the speed, charging most modern vehicles in roughly 3 hours.
Government Grants & Savings
You might be eligible for the OZEV (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) grant, which can significantly knock the price down. While the grant for single-unit houses has changed recently, it’s still very much available for flats, rented properties, and those with specific landlord arrangements. We’ll help you navigate the paperwork so you don’t get tangled in the bureaucracy.

The UK’s Electric Shift
The UK’s transition to electric is hitting its stride. As of early 2026, over 1.8 million fully electric cars are now on British roads, with battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) securing nearly a quarter of the new car market.
Bolstered by a public charging network that has surpassed 87,000 points, it’s now very viable to shift away from petrol cars.
There’s over 60 new models launching this year and more affordable entry-level options arriving from global manufacturers, plus the growing used ev car market means it’s never been a better time to get on the electric pathway.
